By default, each member of the group will received the same group mark. As long as the group functions effectively as a team, equal distributions of marks across group members is appropriate. Occasionally, it is appropriate to give different marks to different members of the group, usually when one or more group member does not engage with the rest of the group, and does little or no work. Be aware, however, that sometime a group member can feel ``locked out'' from the rest of the group, due to shyness on that group member's part, or cultural or social rifts between group members. red Please let the lecturers know of any problems or breakdowns in the group's functioning as soon as possible. We will try to get the group functioning as a team.
The mechanisms for differential marks within a group are:
- Peer-assessment mechanism on Blackboard,
- The individual contributions on the group Journal,
- Questioning by the lecturers during the presentation.
- Non-attendance at the required sessions.
Ultimately, this will lead to a discussion between lecturers and the members of the group.
